Howard W. Jake Jacobus of Ithaca, MI formerly of St. Johns, MI, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at the age of 89. He was born November 3, 1918 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Alwin E. and Edith C. (Paul) Jacobus and has lived in St. Johns since 1964. Jake was an Army Veteran of WWII, a VFW member, a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and a retired U.S. Postal Service employee. He married Luella E. Meyer on September 25, 1948 in St. Louis, MO and she survives him. Also surviving are three sons, Allen of Eureka, MI, William of Wachula, FL, Steven and wife Pam of Rudyard, MI and two grandchildren Elizabeth and William. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2008 at St. Johns Lutheran Church 511 E. Sturgis St. Johns with Pastor George Brinley officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Johns Lutheran Church.
