Mary Catherine Borton, age 89 passed away at Ovid Healthcare Center on Monday, March 5, 2018. She was born on March 24, 1928 in Owosso, MI the daughter of Chair and Margaret (Ford) Gorman.
Mary graduated from St. Paul High School and was married to Chester Borton Sr. on July 9, 1946 in Owosso, MI. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1976, She was a homemaker, and member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Surviving are her children, Dennis (Julia) Borton of Knoxville, TN, Cathy (Joe) Schermerhorn of Stanton, MI, James and life partner Loretta King of Ovid, and Shirley (Gary) Peterson of Olivet, MI. 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Brother Clare Gorman Jr. of Sidney, MI. She was preceded in death by son Chester Jr., brother Edward and sisters Rita Rann, Ruth Preston, Virginia Rolfe and Margaret Craig and long time friend, Jack Dean.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home in St. Johns on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, 4-8 P.M. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Ovid. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Owosso.
