Verna J. (Schattler) Perry, 71 of St. Johns, MI died on June 3, 2014 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing after battling cancer. She was born on October 13, 1942 in Port Huron, MI the daughter of Harvey and Faye (Kemp) Schattler. Verna graduated from Port Huron High School in 1960. After graduation, she worked at the Women’s Benefit Association in Port Huron. She later worked for many years at the St. Johns Chiropractic Clinic in St. Johns for both Dr. Konopka and Dr. Massa, until her retirement. Verna loved gardening and tending to the wide variety of plants and flowers in her yard. She enjoyed watching many sports, especially The Detroit Tigers and MSU women’s basketball. She loved being with her family and attending her grandchildren’s soccer and baseball games.
Verna is survived by son Todd Perry and daughter Lynette Wood both of St. Johns, MI,
grandsons, Trevor and Caleb Wood, who affectionately called her Granny.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Norman Schattler and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Randall Rucker officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Friday, June 6, 2014, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. and Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made the Humane Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
