Obituary for
Alfred Nelson
Alfred Edric Nelson went home to be with the Lord on Good Friday, April 6, 2007. He was born in Toronto, Ontario on July 6, 1920. He served for five years in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II, and following the war he played solo euphonium with the Toronto Symphony Band. In 1951 he completed pastoral studies at London Bible Institute, London, Ontario, and on August 25 of that year married Frances Dorene Bush. Pastor Nelson served the Michigan congregations of First Baptist Church, Rochester, as pastor of youth and music, and Alaska Baptist Church, Alaska, Kingsley Baptist Church, Kingsley, and Parr Memorial Baptist Church, Petoskey, as senior pastor. Subsequent to these pastorates he was for eight years the State Representative of the Michigan Association of Regular Baptist Churches, and more recently served on the staff of the First Baptist Church of St. Johns. Alf and Fran were married for fifty-six years, and are the parents of six children, twenty grandchildren and one great-grandson. Pastor Nelson passed away at his home in Ovid, Michigan. Services will be held at First Baptist Church, St. Johns, and Hamilton, Ontario. Interment will be at White Chapel Gardens, Hamilton, Ontario. We will dearly miss Alfs example of a godly life, his service and love for the Lord and for people of all ages, his irrepressible sense of humor, and his appreciation and knowledge of music. His life verse was, Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6. Those who loved him rest in Gods promise that, Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15. Absent from the body
