Richard E. “Rick” Sloyer died Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the age of 65. He was born September 13, 1952 in Wichita, KS the son of Eugene and Edith (Hoskinson) Sloyer. Rick was an Air Force veteran and earned an Associate Degree from Ferris State University in avionics technology and electronic technology. For many years he enjoyed golfing and was an avid bowler, participating in several leagues. He worked as an industrial electrician for Mahle Corporation retiring with 40 years of service. Rick was a volunteer firefighter for the St. Johns Fire Department and retired from the department as a Lieutenant. On January 11, 1974 he married Joan Rosekrans and they just celebrated 44 years together. Also surviving is a son, Michael (Flavia) Sloyer of Dimondale; a daughter, Miranda (Jon) Kibby of Bath; grandchildren, Beatrice and Miles Kibby and a brother Dan (Eydie) Sloyer of IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Sarah. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, March 9, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. Private interment will take place with military honors provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Clinton County RESA Fire Sciences for R.E. Sloyer Fire Scholarship Fund
