Obituary for Frederick R. Porter

Frederick R. Porter died Monday, September 18, 2017 at the age of 98. He was born October 30, 1918 in Detroit, MI the son of Harry and Margaret (Dickson) Porter. Fred was a member of First United Methodist Church in St. Johns and a WWII veteran serving in the Army Air Corp. Fred earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in chemical engineering from Lawrence Technological Institute and was a Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan. He worked for Schmieg Industries for many years and retired from Ford Motor Company as an environmental engineer with over 17 years of service.Fred enjoyed woodworking, keeping up with current events, doing crossword puzzles, reading on his Kindle and reading the daily comics. He also enjoyed spending time on the computer connecting with family on Facebook. On April 28, 1946 he married Constance Ouzounoff and she preceded him in death in 2014. Surviving are three sons, Christopher (Marjorie) Porter of Frankfort, MI, Dr. Donald (Louise) Porter of St. Johns and Frederick (Karen) Porter of Farmington Hills, MI; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Private services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 310 N.
