Condolence From: Theresa Frances Butler
Condolence: Blake was my classmate and childhood friend, as he was to many. We all went to his big red brick home and played in Central School's playground --- I remember these times well. Blake never shied away from being a deep thinking and feeling individual, as most people are, he was different. As I became a widow at 36, he came up to me at our 20th year HS reunion to talk about this sensitive subject, this, I will never forget. Blake was a brave soul, in his own way. May he rest in peace.

Condolence: My heart goes out to Blake's family and all the Anthes, at this time of great sorrow.
Although Blake and I were not close friends he was still a part of my history since 1st grade and proceeded on to our graduating class of 1978. Plus Blake was just friends with everyone. The memory of his growing up family home-the big old brick house on the corner across from old Central School. In recent years at our classes mini reunions, he was always there with his friendly hello and smile. It is so unreal that he will no longer be around. He will be greatly missed. The Lord shined down on Blake today 10/24/16 with beautiful sunny skies as he is laid to rest.

Condolence: We are deeply saddened and devastated by the loss of a wonderful human being..Mr. Anthes. There is so much we could say about him..He was a complete joy to talk with and just be in his presence. He was a mentor to so many. To both our kids growing up into adults he's continued to show interest in anything they were involved in. He has consistently been supportive in their sports and hobbies. Anytime I sat and spoke with him at a game or event.. He cheered them on and in the meantime cheered me up. I don't think I've ever seen him without a smile on his face.. In fact I cannot erase the memory of the last time I saw him. He was walking down the sidewalk our subdivision .. Here he came with a huge grin on his face and a card in his hand. He had attended our son's graduation party. He was the only teacher to make the long drive and we appreciated it greatly. I know our daughter has carried with her.. Many fond memories of her childhood with the Anthes family. She said they were quite possibly the happiest people she had ever had been around. And that's just it... The happiness and joy he brought to those lucky enough to have known him... That will never be forgotten. He was much more than just their substitute teacher to us all..He was a friend, a number one fan, a mentor...and we would like to thank him for all. May he know the joy he brought to people. And may the family be given strength through this grieving process and know that they are loved. Blessings to you all. -the Stiebe Family

Condolence: I am deeply saddened and shocked by the loss of Blake. We were classmates in St. Johns from the Class of '78 and I will always hold the best memories of him. Blake had such a kind soul. His smile was infectious, his good nature and positive personality made me smile every time I saw him, and he always had time to say hello and chat a bit.
My condolences to his entire family. May his memory be for a blessing.

Condolence: Our heartfelt sympathies go out to your family over the passing of Blake. Both of our girls shared that they had him as a substitute teacher many times and that he was kindhearted, encouraging, and fun. What a terrible loss for the St Johns community as well. Condolence: Blake was my "little brother" at Psi Upsilon fraternity at MSU. The Paddle he made for me still hangs at home 37 years later. What a wonderful addition to our fraternity, and as I am learning, to the St. Johns community! My sincere prayers and condolences to his family and special Psi U love to Jay. Will be thinking about you all at this trying time.
