James P. Jorae, 68 of St. Johns, MI died at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born on January 4, 1947 in St. Johns the son of Gerald and Beatrice (Motz) Jorae. Jim was a 1965 graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School, and was a farmer. On August 28, 1970 he married Jennifer Goetze in St. Johns. He was a carrier for the US Postal Service from which he retired. He was currently Supervisor for Greenbush Township, and had served on Clinton Area Ambulance Board, was a volunteer for the 4-H, 3rd degree Knights of Columbus, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, loved farming, his family, watching birds and his dog, Pepe. He was also Conservationist of the Year in 2009. He was also a member of The Farm Service Agency Board.
Survived by his wife Jennifer, daughters, Jackie Moore and Janelle (Jeremy) Ritter. Grandchildren, Krista Brianne Moore and Joslynn and Sophia Ritter, sister Christine (Nick) Kurncz all of St. Johns. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Oliver and George and son-in-law Scott Moore.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Friday, February 20, 2015, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday evening.
