Beatrice L. Isbell, 86 of Grayling, Michigan died Tuesday December 11, 2012.
Beatrice was born December 18, 1925 in Ovid, Michigan the daughter of Orr Roy and Susan (Finein) Richard. She married Donald G. Isbell May 25, 1948 in Ovid and he preceded her in death October 20, 1996. She was a graduate of Ovid High School class of 1943 and St. Lawrence School of Nursing class 1946. Beatrice was a registered nurse and worked at Clinton Memorial Hospital for 39 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in St. Johns, and later the United Methodist Church of Grayling. She enjoyed traveling with her husband seeing all of the lower 48 states; they also enjoyed the casinos; she was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed knitting and bowling. Beatrice was also a published poet and past president of the Lansing Poetry Society. She was a real people person and was active at the Senior Center.
Beatrice is survived by her children, daughters Linda (Edward) Abshagen of St. Joseph, Suzanne Isbell fiancé (Mark) of Grayling, and son David (Jennifer) Isbell Sr. of Traverse City, six grandchildren: David (Dora) Isbell Jr. , Breanna (Dan) Camarillo, Miranda (Jim)Wellman, Emily Smith (Rob Ward), Wendy Parker fiancé (Derek), Sandra Abshagen, fiancé (Gene), 13 great-grandchildren Andrelle, Tyler, Kaleb, Josefina, Zoe, Donavin, Autumn, Tierra, Imala, Brandon, Diana, Ciera, Noah, along with “Uncle” Glen James Zelley. Beside her husband, Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 15 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home: (989) 224-4422 St. Johns, MI 48879, 2012 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Walter Kreger Officiating. Interment will follow at South Bingham Cemetery, St. Johns.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home Friday, December 14, 2012 from 2-7pm and one hour prior to service on Saturday.
